Thao & The Get Down Stay Down [Holy Roller]
You know that song that manages to be played on the radio every single time you get into your car? Well, here’s mine, and thankfully it’s a winner. It comes from San Francisco folk-pop band, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, based around the singing and songwriting of Thao Nguyen (Vietnam represent)! After researching more on the band, I discovered that they’re originally from Falls Church, VA, which is pretty much my hometown (NOVA represent)! That just makes them even more awesome. Nguyen will release her new LP, We The Common, on Feb 4 via Ribbon Music. “Holy Roller” is a two-and-a-half minute folk-tinged gutar pop track that is sunny, upbeat, and downright charming.
